The innate immune response aims to:

Recognize and detect invading pathogens, block their entry into the body, eliminate pathogens that have already entered, and alert the adaptive
immune system if necessary.

The innate immune response is a nonspecific, immediate defense system that protects the body from invading pathogens. It is present at birth and does not require prior exposure to a specific pathogen to function.
